august ice

this vintage dress is a gift from my friend mara. it was handmade in the early sixties, and has a great fit. it's ice-blue and handmade, unlined. the style is slightly japonesque, very clean. the little poochy bit over my belly is a pocket, but i feel it suggests origami. it behaves better standing up.

at first i told mara that i wasn't sure i would wear it more than once a year, as light blue kind of looks like vom on me, but i was wrong. with red miu miu pumps and a borrowed alexis bittar orchid brooch, i felt so knockout. i really want to try other accessories with it.

here is my friend dave, looking super summer crispy. he has a great, new hat, but he wasn't wearing it this day. dave is the only guy in his clique who makes any effort to present himself. he can do bold color, pattern, accessories. also, he's got great taste in old school funk, soul, and psych.
